I have jumped into leadership -- bringing police and community activists together to improve enforcement of the Chronic Nuisance Ordinance.  Citizens in Westwood, OTR, North Avondale, and the West End are engaged in "community driven crime control" which means citizens solving problems, with police as a resource.

However, these motivated citizens feel police are shutting them out.  The working session I organized at City Hall the evening of Feb. 18 was intense, with some hurt feelings when the 90 minutes was up.  I thought it was a good face to face exchange with q&a to pave the way to better collaboration.

I am following up, trying to get police to meet again with concerned citizens. Sometimes it really is hard to push people into action.
